A dolphin died trapped in a New York channel.
 
A dolphin spent several hours trapped in a sewage canal in the New York borough of Brooklyn passed away today without the authorities could do nothing to save him.
 
The dolphin had been spotted for the first time early in the morning at the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, where hundreds of people came to see the animal swimming in sewage.
 
Marine biologist Julika Wocial, Riverhead Foundation organization, confirmed that the dolphin died just after 1800 local time on the channel.
